Percussionist Andrés Navarro García explores the western concept of “song” through a collection of contemporary pieces for percussion and voice. What do we understand by song ? “Percussionist songs” is based on the basic elements that make up our preconceived idea of “song”: the voice, the verse and the ephemeral. These three elements are dissected during the performance under the compositional aesthetics of American composers from the second half of the 20th century.
Andrés Navarro García (Murcia, Spain) is a percussionist that focuses his work on the field of contemporary music. Andrés’s aspiration, as a musician-person, lies in bringing his aesthetic world to all kinds of audiences. This is how he ended up entering the fields of sound research, improvisation and composition, combining them nowadays with his experience as a contemporary music performer.
