QUIETSPEAKER, “remote/displaced” (~40 min)
(Andrea Mancianti and Roberto Fusco)
QuietSpeaker: a Helsinki based duo producing audio visual concerts and installations. Together they explore the relationship between sound and images, their perceptual integration in time and space and intertwined choreography as one medium. Starting from concrete sounds and images, quietSpeaker constructs audiovisual narratives and reshape spaces using multi projections and custom objects.
Active since 2016, quietSpeaker has presented their work for many international festivals and venues, including Ars Electronica Linz (AU), VAFT Video Art Festival Turku (FI), NIME Conference Copenhagen (DK), Currents Media Festival (US), Flussi media art festival (IT), Orizzonti Verticali festival, (IT) and others.
remote/displaced (~40 min)
remote/displaced is an immersive audiovisual concept album by quietSpeaker based around Öljysäiliö 468, a vast, decommissioned oil tank by the sea of East Helsinki.
The acoustics of this place are extremely peculiar due to its shape and materials, with long reverberation times, shimmering echoes and immersive radiating patterns. In addition, it is an almost magical site for a modern times sonic ritual, due to its appearances of a relic of fossil fuel culture, its position by the shore, and its nature, in-between a closed industrial space not meant for humans and a shell open to the surrounding land- and soundscapes, that constantly filter and reverberate in its open cavity.
