#998 JS BACH ON PSYCHEDELICS

A phantasmagorical journey through J.S. Bach’s masterpiece Prelude, Fugue and Allegro (BWV 998).

The music originally composed in the XVIII century for lautenwerk has been deconstructed and translated into a new composition to be played on electric guitar. With a new shape and a musical development, all the classical components are filtered through the recent experience of avantgarde and post-minimalism in music. In this psychedelic trip you will see long-sustained tones, overdubbing delays, tonal progressions, power chords, distorted sounds, high-pitched overtones, and more.

Respecting the structure of the original J.S. Bach’s work, #998 JS Bach on psychedelic is divided into three parts: Prelude, Fugue, and Allegro.

Leonardo Melchionda is a guitarist and sound artist, professionally trained in the field of classical and contemporary music, free improvisation, and electroacoustic music.

Like is a duo composed of artists Florence Cats and Diana Duta. Their first collaboration, Like a telepath (commissioned by Radiophrenia festival Glasgow), was recorded during the period of a week, with the two artists ‘emitting’ and ‘receiving’ from L’Île-d’Yeu island in France and Brussels simultaneously. This process allowed them to mimic a radio device, using the distance between as a space to connect, rather than an obstacle. Both artists are drawing from an opaque but resonant source, which paints their very concrete collaboration in a strange and surreal atmosphere. The set-up for the live performance further amplifies this particular landscape: theremin, synthesizer, voices, vibrational wave patterns, optical sound synthesis, broadband web radio and other trasmissional media.

Like the two-headed serpent, like the natrix of waves, like the winged jaculus, like the pareos whose tail lights its way
